Street Interviews: Selena Gomez or Hailey Bieber?

DeKALB – As Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber fans battle for the honor of their favored celebrity, the situation is becoming increasingly heated. Among NIU students, the general consensus seems to be an urgency to rally behind Selena, who has remained the unproblematic throughout the growing rivalry, yet been the victim of several petty stabs from her ex-boyfriend’s wife. Other students, however, remain helplessly uneducated on the conflict, myself included, or adamantly against following the drama.

“Have you been keeping up with the drama surrounding Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez?”
 Answer: “So I haven’t really been following it. I only follow Selena Gomez, so I’ve been kind of seeing her posts, and they’ve been throwing a little shade towards what Hailey, and I think it’s Kylie Jenner, have been saying, but I’m definitely on Selena’s side. Selena forever.”

“What’s your opinion?”

Answer: “Um, I honestly think that Hailey Bieber is just jealous of Selena because…I don’t know if she’s jealous that she dated Justin Bieber before, or if she just wants to be Selena, or if she just wants to be with Selena. I don’t, I honestly don’t know, but I’m on Selena’s side.”

 Answer: “I have not.”

“What’s your opinion?”

Answer:  “Um, well, I don’t know anything about, like Justin Bieber just like in general. I guess. Uh, I honestly don’t know.”

 Answer: “I have not, but I’ve, like, seen it a little bit on, like, Instagram.”

“What’s your opinion?”

Answer: “It just seems a little, like, influencer-fueled. Just because they’re both, like, popular and stand-outish public figures, you know, and they’re just kind of going at each other. It’s gonna just bring a whole stir of problems.”

 Answer: “I’ve definitely not been following it. It’s my first time hearing it.”

“What’s your opinion?”

Answer: “I don’t really know. I just think it’s celeb-drama that people shouldn’t be, like, thinking about too much, and yeah, that’s really it.”
