Walk A Mile

At 9:30 a.m. NIU’s Office of Prevention Education and Outreach within the Division of Academic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will host their annual Walk a Mile event. They will be partnering with Safe Passage – an agency that advocates for safe spaces for victims of domestic violence. The walk will begin at the Convocation Center, located at 1525 W. Lincoln Hwy, DeKalb. Those interested in attending can register at the Safe Passage website. Ticket prices range from $10 to $30. 

Interfraternity Council Tugs

NIU’s annual Tugs competition will be taking place from Monday to Saturday this week, located at 912 Edgewood Dr, DeKalb. Saturday will be the final day of Tugs with the championship taking place at 3 p.m.. Tickets can be purchased online and range between $10 and $80. All profits will be donated to Hope Haven, a homelessness shelter located in DeKalb. This event is hosted by NIU’s Interfraternity Council. 

Outdoor Stargazing

From 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. one of NIU’s astrophysicist doctorate student staff members will teach attendees how to stargaze and how to navigate a star chart. Attendees  will view the Lyrids Meteor Shower taking place that night. Tickets must be purchased in advance online today, and prices for NIU students are $15 and $20 for non-students. Registration includes transportation to Afton Forest Preserve, snacks and beverages. 

Football Showcase

From noon to 3 p.m. NIU’s football team will hold its annual Spring showcase at Huskie Stadium. The event is open to the public and attendees will be able to watch NIU’s football team practice. Fans will have the chance to buy season tickets and get autographs from players and from head coach Thomas Hammock. Concessions will be available with food and drinks.
