Give DeKalb County hosting non-profit donation event
April 21, 2023
Give DeKalb County celebrates its 10th year supporting the non-profit organizations of DeKalb. The 24-hour event on May 4 asks community donors to donate as much as they can to benefit over 140 non-profit organizations set up or serving in DeKalb.
Founded by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership (DCNP), a program from the Community Foundation, Give DeKalb County saw 7,626 donations from donors in all 50 states and 4 countries in 2022. While the combined previous GDC’s have raised over $6.8 million for nonprofit organizations, this year’s event is no different with high hopes to raise record donations for their participating non-profits.
Donors have the full day on May 4 to send funds online or drop off any donations at the DeKalb County Community Foundation from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Those who prefer to donate by check can print a donation form from the website and mail it to the Foundation at 475 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, IL 60178 earlier beginning April 20 to May 4.
“Donors have many options during Give DeKalb County,” said DCNP Director Ben Bingle. “There are multiple ways to give and a record number of participating organizations to choose from.”
In addition to the pool, nonprofits that support the total that DeKalb raises can receive up to 7% of the total amount back to their organizations from the GDC Bonus Pool which boosts donations made through GDC.
On the day of the event, donors can watch the Give DeKalb County total grow with light refreshments provided by the Foundation.
Those donating online must donate a $5 minimum, and there is no minimum for mailed donations.
