At 6:10 p.m. Sept. 7 near Elm Street and Somonauk Street in Sycamore, a 17-year-old male student was stabbed by another individual.
“It was two parties that confronted each other and the stabbing resulted as a part of that confrontation,” Jim Winters, Sycamore Chief of Police, said.
The Sycamore Police Department believes that seven people are involved in the confrontation.
The Sycamore Fire Department and EMS transported the victim to Northwest Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital where he died, according to a press release from the Sycamore Police Department.
A primary juvenile suspect was later taken into custody at a residence in Sycamore.
The Sycamore Community School District Superintendent’s Office released a statement this morning offering its condolences and noted it will have social workers and counselors on stand-by throughout the district for anyone who needs support.
“We are deeply saddened to inform you of the tragic loss of one of our High School students yesterday evening,” said Steve Wilder, superintendent of Sycamore Community School District, in the press release.
