DeKALB — NIU is changing its game day parking for students, faculty members and fans.
Various stadium parking lots will be closed at midnight prior to games and will reopen one hour after the football game ends.
“Students and faculty/staff who usually park in these areas are asked to seek alternative legal parking solutions during this time frame,” according to the NIU’s parking website.
Lots C1, C2 and C3 near the NIU Convocation Center will still be available to park at during the game.
Students may also take the bus to the game. Shuttles will stop at three different locations at the Convo: on Recreation Drive and by parking lot C1 and C2.
Route 2L will take students directly to Stadium Drive from Patterson Hall, Grant North, Stevenson North, and Stevenson South.
Students who would prefer to walk to the stadium on game day have multiple different bus routes they can take to get closer. Route 11 and 2R will take students to Grant North, Stevenson North and Stevenson South. Route 19 will take students to Annie Glidden Road at Graham Hall.
In a email sent out to the NIU students and faculty, parking services warned that any student or faculty member who parks in any of the closed lots on game day without an NIU football game day parking pass will be towed.
To learn more on where to park on game day, students, faculty and fans can look at NIU’s parking website or the Huskie Stadium Fan Guide.
