DeKALB – The Panhellenic Council is set to host the annual women’s tug of war (nicknamed “Tugs”) tournament on Wednesday and Saturday at 912 Edgebrook Drive.

The tournament is an annual philanthropy event that will donate a portion of proceeds to the Circle of Sisterhood.

Match 1 will feature Alpha Phi against Alpha Sigma Alpha and will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Sigma Sigma Sigma, better known as Tri Sigma, will defend its championship title against the winner of Match 1 at 2 p.m. Saturday in the championship round.

Tri Sigma defeated Alpha Phi in the 2022 PHC Women’s Tugs Championship to become repeat champions. In 2021, Tri Sigma bested Alpha Sigma Alpha in the final round.

Tickets for Wednesday’s match are $15, and Saturday’s tickets are $20. Two-day passes are also available for $30. Tickets can be purchased on EventBrite.

The Northern Star is also livestreaming the event through its YouTube channel, @NIUNorthernStar.
