Former b-ball player charged

Former NIU basketball player Joseph “Jo Jo” Jackson Jr., 22, 835 Edgebrook Dr., faces several criminal charges stemming from a Tuesday incident, police said.

Jackson was charged with home invasion, aggravated battery, unlawful restraint and criminal damage to property, police said.

Police said Jackson broke into a home, struck another NIU student and then forced her into his car.

He is being held in the DeKalb County jail on $35,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 26.

Jackson played for NIU during the 1987-88 and 1988-89 seasons under former coach Jim Rosborough.
