Grant South-A
August 28, 1991
We would like to dispel a terrible myth that NIU does not show concern for its students.
We have been the recipient of infinite amounts of empathetic caring on the part of the warm-hearted administration.
The recent oversight of electrical power at Grant Towers South-A has proven, without a shadow of a doubt, that the dedication and efficiency with which the university runs has been unjustly criticized.
Those students and faculty who might carry pity in their hearts for our plight need not shed a concerned tear for the rugged individuals at GTS-A.
Granted, though the temperature in our room has been hovering between 95 and 100 degrees, we have the solace of taking a nice hot shower (after the water was restored).
Even going to the bathroom has broadened our horizons. Utilizing the darkened facilities has given us new-found respect for the visually impaired.
Although a faint whisper of despair could be heard when the elevators ceased to function, the benefits of the cardiovascular workout of hiking 12 flights of stairs greatly outweighs any inconvenience.
Once again, we would like to assure students and faculty alike that NIU really cares! Even this letter of appreciation could not have been penned without the aid of a 50-cent flashlight, lovingly provided by NIU—proof positive that NIU spares no expense ensuring the well-being of each and every student.
