A vehicle that was stolen between late Friday and early Saturday was involved in a hit-and-run accident.

DeKalb police were called Friday by an employee of Tom and Jerry’s, 215 W. Lincoln Hwy.

The employee reported there was a Chevy Blazer parked near theater at the East Lagoon with its lights on and no one in the vehicle, police said.

The vehicle was determined to be stolen, police said.

The truck belonged to TV Taco Inc. and was dropped off at 125 1/2 N. Annie Glidden Rd. to be repaired on Friday at about 3 p.m., police said.

The owner of the vehicle said he did not know it was stolen until police notified him after finding the truck by the East Lagoon, police said.

The driver’s side of the car has excessive damage, police said. The steering column was peeled, the driver’s side window was shattered, the fog lights were bent and there also were numerous scratches on both sides of the truck, police said.

The damage to the vehicle was valued at $3,000.

The truck is allegedly involved in a hit-and-run, police said. Police said the person who stole the truck hit a DeKalb resident and then drove the truck to the East Lagoon and abandoned it.

Police have no suspects at the time and the case is still pending.
