DeKALB – 12 middle school and high school bands from across Northern Illinois took to the stage Friday for a concert band festival at Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building.
The yearly event, hosted by NIU, is held in partnership with Phantom Regiment. In addition to performing, the attending schools each had the opportunity to attend a 20-minute clinic from one of four clinicians and a 30-minute performance from the NIU Wind Ensemble.
Kamal Talukder directs Grayslake Central High School Wind Ensemble during the first performance of the festival. The clinicians could be heard on the performance livestream commenting on the wonderful horn section and great tone during their first piece, “The Falls'' by Rossano Galante.
