There are an astonishing number of “Star Wars” games that have successfully united fans around the world and shaped the “Star Wars” games of the future.
Games such as Electronic Arts’ “Star Wars Battlefront” and Respawn Entertainment’s “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” were monumentally influential toward how future “Star Wars” games would look and feel.
Two such legendary “Star Wars” games – the original “Star Wars: Battlefront” and Star Wars: Battlefront II,” – known and loved for their cinematic action and massive amounts of content, are making a return in one package.
Titled the “Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection,” an announcement trailer debuted on YouTube showcasing small pieces of the game’s gameplay and revealing the collection’s release date to be March 14.
The collection will have both classic “Battlefront” games from the Playstation 2 along with some additional maps, characters and other changes.
In preparation for the collection’s release, the servers of “Battlefront” and “Battlefront II” will be revived so players can once again experience the game’s hugely cinematic 32 versus 32 team combat.
“Star Wars: Battlefront” will be receiving one new map, Jabba’s Palace, added along with the game’s original maps.
“Star Wars: Battlefront II” on the other hand will have four additional maps: Bespin – Cloud City, Rhen Var – Harbor, Rhen Var – Citadel and Yavin 4 – Arena.
Along with all of the game’s iconic heroes and villains, such as Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, the collection will add two new characters, Jedi master Kit Fisto and Sith assassin Asajj Ventress.
Previously, these two characters were only available for Xbox players of “Star Wars: Battlefront II.” Now both characters will be accessible for all players of “Star Wars: Battlefront II,” regardless of console.
The mode Hero Assault will also be playable on all grounded maps including The Death Star, Kashyyyk, Kamino and Naboo.
With all the new content added to an already top-tier “Star Wars” game, this is a huge chance for new fans interested in playing the original games.
The unfortunate aspect of “Battlefront” and “Battlefront II” being as old as they are is that newer and younger fans missed out on being able to play them.
The release of the “Battlefront Classic Collection” will give fans who never had the chance to play the original games the opportunity to experience two of the most beloved “Star Wars” games in history with more content than ever before.
