Ellwood House to host tours and fair

If you plan on leaving DeKalb for the holiday weekend be sure to be back in time for the Ellwood House Art Fair and Sale on Sunday.
Visitors can tour the elegant Ellwood mansion, located at 509 N. First St., from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The 30-room restored Victorian house was the residence of barbed-wire baron Isaac L. Ellwood.
The “Little House” and the Carriage House will also be open to view. Guided tours will cost $3.50 for adults and $1 for children.
The 19th annual art fair will feature over 120 artists from Illinois and the midwest who will display their work on the Ellwood House Museum grounds in DeKalb.
Paintings, watercolors, ceramics, hand-crafted jewelry, and other arts and craft pieces will be shown from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Grilled jumbo hot dogs and pop will be sold by members of the Ellwood House Association Board on the grounds. Nearby free parking and a shuttle bus will be provided. For more information call 756-4609.
