Students may interview director candidates

The search for the new director of the Office of Campus Recreation has been narrowed to five candidates.
Donald Buckner, associate vice president for Student Affairs, said each finalist has been assigned interview dates, including open meetings with any student who wants to interview the candidates from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
The open forums give students the opportunity to question and evaluate the candidates, said John Quilico, vice president of the Student Association and search committee member.
The first open forum will be July 22 in the Holmes Student Center University Suite for candidate Juliette Moore, associate director of Student Activities for Programming and Recreation at James Madison University in Virginia.
Moore has a M.S. in Leisure Studies from the University of West Florida and a B.S. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Xavier University of Louisiana.
Candidate Carol Stickel, associate director of Recreational Sports at Purdue University in Indiana, can be interviewed by students July 23 in the HSC University Suite.
Stickel has a Master of Education in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Kent State University in Ohio and a B.S. Education in History and Political Science from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
On July 24, Dennis Byrne, director of recreational sports at The College of William and Mary in Virginia, will be available for students’ questions in Lowden Hall 304.
Byrne has an M.A. in intramural sports administration and a B.S. in recreation and youth leadership from Michigan State University.
The open forum for Alicia Cosky, NIU associate director of Campus Recreation, will be held July 25 in Lowden Hall 304.
Cosky has a Ph.D. in adult continuing education and an M.S. in physical education from NIU. She earned a B.S. in physical education at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich.
Charles Espinosa, recreational facilities manager and individual/dual sports coordinator at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, will be the final candidate to meet with students July 29 in the HSC University Suite.
Espinosa has an M.A. and a B.S in Physical Education from New Mexico State University. He also has earned 15 hours postmasters graduate course work in higher education administration and student development from VPISU.
