Green ribbons

Since I first advocated (at the beginning of April) putting up green ribbons to signify the absolute right of our destitute homeless to basic shelter (green, for the Robin Hood ethic: take from the rich and give to the poor), I’ve had various reactions from conservatives, the emissaries of the philosophy of selfishness.

I have been accused of being a Marxist, statist and more. But my politics are only God.

Mother Theresa of Calcutta said: “Poverty is not created by God. It’s made by you and me. We are responsible because we don’t share. Even God will not force us to do good. We must choose to do the Good.”

Saint Basil the Blessed went so far as to steal merchandise from dishonest tradesmen. Francis of Assisi not only gave away his own belongings but his father’s merchandise as well.

From the standpoint of God property itself is theft, especially when people go without the basic necessities of life.

I do admit to being a revolutionary. The revolution I call for is a spiritual revolution where all self-interest is transcended and people possess only God.

The Church must stop being the right arm of our conservative society.
