NIU women’s golf finished the Oral Roberts Spring Invite in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Monday and Tuesday, placing third out of 15 teams, the Huskies best placement this season. Senior Emily Romancew, senior Jasmine Ly and graduate student Sydney Naro all keyed top-ten placements.
The Huskies finished the tournament 27 over-par, leaving the three rounds with 891 strokes.
NIU finished the first round with its worst score of the tournament, shooting 301. The Huskies improved across the next two rounds, shooting 294 in the second round and 296 in the third round.
Finishing in third place, Romancew left the tournament two-over par. Romancew exited the first round scoring 73 and shot a 76 in the second round. She found her tournament low score in the third round, with a score of 69 – matching her season low.
Ly was NIU’s second golfer of the tournament, tying for fifth-place. Ly kicked off the tournament with a score of 75 in the first round and improved to a score of 70 in the second round. Ly rounded out the tournament with a score of 75 in the third round.
Naro logged the Huskies’ third best finish, tying for tenth-place. Naro opened the tournament shooting a 77 in the first round, but improved to a score of 72 in the second round. Naro left the tournament shooting a 73 in the third round.
NIU’s fourth golfer was junior Caroline Kent, placing tied for 49th place. Kent logged a score of 79 in the first round followed by a score of 76 in the second round. Kent left the third round with a score of 79.
Finishing in 69th place, junior Jóhanna Lea Lúðvíksdóttir rounded out the Huskies’ lineup. Lúðvíksdóttir scored a 76 in the first round, but increased six-strokes to 82 in the second round. Lúðvíksdóttir completed the tournament with a score of 87 in the third round.
