NIU women’s golf wrapped up the 2023-24 season Tuesday after placing third at the MAC Championship. Senior Emily Romancew and graduate student Sydney Naro each logged a top-10 finish.
The Huskies kicked off the tournament with a score of 310 in the first round, their best of the tournament. NIU scored 311 in the second round and rounded out the tournament with a score of 316 in the third round.
Romancew led the pack, finishing in seventh place. Romancew shot back-to-back scores of 76 in the first and second round. She exited the tournament shooting a 77 in the third round.
Naro was close behind, tying for eighth place. Naro kicked off the tournament with her best score, shooting a 76. Naro went on to shoot 77 in each the second and the third round.
Junior Caroline Kent was third in the Huskies’ lineup, coming in 20th place. Kent began the tournament by shooting a 78 in the first and second round. Kent was sabotaged by a score of 83 in the third round.
Placing tied for 25th, senior Jasmine Ly was fourth in the NIU lineup. Ly shot 80 in both the first and second round. The third round was Ly’s worst, leaving the final frame shooting 81.
Rounding out the Huskies lineup was junior Jóhanna Lúðvíksdóttir, who placed 49th. Lúðvíksdóttir shot an 86 in the first round, her worst of the tournament. After not participating in the second round, Lúðvíksdóttir closed the tournament with a score of 81.
The MAC Championship marks Ly, Romancew and Naro’s final tournament with the Huskies.
