Board to review issues

By Linda Warchal

Several important issues are on the agenda for tonight’s DeKalb County Board meeting.

All board members will be present at the 7:30 p.m. meeting, which is open to the public, said chairman Robert Hutcheson. The meeting will be held in the DeKalb County Administration Building in Sycamore.

Vice chairman Beverly Waite said she encourages citizens to attend the meetings because a number of important decisions are pending.

“The decisions being made are affecting everyone,” she said.

There will be planning and zoning requests, Hutcheson said, including one from Larson Inc. for the expansion of a gravel pit.

There is also an ordinance regarding Larson Inc. because a special permit is needed to work in the flood plain area, Hutcheson said.

Also on the table are:

The use of the Bridge Fund, a fund for the repair of bridges in the county, regarding the construction of a bridge over the Kishwaukee River on Jones Road.

The installation of a traffic signal at Route 23 and Barber Green Road.

A message to the Public Building Commission that they will be using the vacant land around the Administration Building for parking lots.

The County Forest Preserve District’s claims and the approval of the claims.
