DeKALB – Former NIU sophomore forward Xavier Amos announced his commitment to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the 2024-25 season via his Instagram on Monday.
Amos is the second of seven 2023-24 Huskies who entered the transfer portal to commit to a new school. Similar to former NIU teammate Yanic Konan Niederhauser, Amos will also be heading to a Big Ten school next season.
Amos played two years as a Huskie, appearing in 33 games and making 26 starts. After an injury ended his freshman season prematurely, Amos started 25 games for NIU in 2023-24.
The Chicago native was one of the Huskies’ top scoring options in 2023-24, averaging 13.8 points per game. Amos also led NIU in rebounding with 5.8 per game and was second on the team in blocks, averaging just over 1.3 per game.
Amos finished his NIU career with averages of 11.1 points per game, 5 rebounds per game and shot 36.2% from behind the three-point arc.
Amos’ best game as a Huskie came on Nov. 27 against Northwestern University. Amos scored a career-high 26 points on 11-for-15 shooting, drilled four three-pointers and grabbed 7 rebounds.
