DeKALB – The city of DeKalb is seeking community groups to walk in the upcoming Memorial Day Parade.

The Memorial Parade on May 27 is in need of entries to participate in the parade, meant to honor military service members around the country.

The city is looking for veterans organizations, youth sports teams, service groups, nonprofit organizations, clubs and religious groups to take part. To respect the holiday and the veterans involved, organizations are asked to refrain from displaying or carrying advertising materials and political banners.

Entries in the procession should arrive at 8:30 a.m. at North Third and Locust Street.

The parade will kick off at 9 a.m. and head west on Locust Street, toward DeKalb’s Honorary Veterans Way, which was dedicated in 2020, and then head north on Linden Place.

The parade will end with a program on the lawn of the Ellwood House with free tours of the first level of the Ellwood Mansion concluding the event.

Groups interested in marching in the parade can fill out an online form before May 10. Questions can be directed to Scott Zak by email or his phone number: 815-748-2396.
