There is a carnival this weekend and NIU students looking for something new to do might want to attend.

Omega Psi Phi and BROTHERS, a student organization, will host their first Carnival Weekend beginning today through April 28.

Nolen Hendreson, president of BROTHERS, said he invites the entire NIU community to participate in the event.

“I feel it should go exceptionally well,” said Norman Sevier, a member of BROTHERS. “I think there should be a big turnout.”

Sevier said Omega Psi Phi and BROTHERS have been planning the event for about two weeks. Sevier said if the event goes well it will probably be held next year.

The carnival begins today at 6 p.m. with a Splash Party at the Gabel Hall pool until 9 p.m.

There will be an after set with dancing beginning at 11 p.m. at the Wesley Foundation.

The carnival continues Saturday with games and food when NIU organizations will set up informational booths and tents.

The organizations will sell tickets for 50 cents a piece or $5.00 for a book of 10.

At 10 p.m. Saturday night there will be a dance party at the Chick Evans Field House.

The disc jockeys will be Bad Boy Bill and Terry Hunter from WBBM-FM. The dance party lasts until 3 a.m.

On Sunday, a musical will be performed at 4:30 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on 300 E. Taylor St.
