With parents coming in from all across the state and country, students and families are looking for new ways to enjoy their time on campus.
NIU welcomes all families to join their students in many exciting events for Family Weekend.
FAMILY WEEKEND BLOCK PARTY
Join students Friday to start Family Weekend with a block party at the Holmes Student Center.
With barbeque provided by Student Involvement, students and their families can enjoy music, food and quality time together.
While the event is open to all students and families, registration is required ahead of time.
HUSKIE FOOTBALL
Following the team’s historic win over then-ranked No. 5 ranked University of Notre Dame, NIU football returns to face the University at Buffalo Bulls at Huskie Stadium.
Prior to kickoff, tailgating will be outside the stadium from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the game beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets to the game are available for students and families and can be found on the NIU athletics website.
CASINO NIGHT
On Saturday, the Campus Activities Board will be hosting a casino night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m in the Duke Ellington Ballroom.
Games like blackjack, roulette and craps will be available to enjoy alongside a DJ with family-friendly games.
All students and families are welcome and can reserve a spot on Huskie Hub.
SECOND ANNUAL HUSKIE MOTORSPORTS CAR AND BIKE SHOW
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in NIU Parking Lot 2, families can enjoy a car show with food and prizes provided by Huskie Motorsports.
With an entry fee of $10 for submissions, families will be able to visit food trucks, participate in raffles and win awards. The event is free for spectators. Proceeds will go to support the Huskie Motorsports team.
