Writer to blame
March 18, 1991
I am writing in response to the March 7 letter by Michael McVey, post-graduate or graduate student, or whatever else he chooses to declare himself as in affiliation to the meteorology department. A few things must be clarified.
First of all, I have been working as Weather Office Director at the NIU Weather Service since November of 1989 and I pretty much know who is in meteorology and who is not.
I can attest to the fact that McVey is not one of the students in the department.
In fact, for those of us who are rather (un)fortunate to see him on a frequent basis, we often wonder whether or not he is of this world.
Dressing like he is one of the Brady kids, he is in no position to tell anybody how to dress. He should at least dress like the early 1980s before he can criticize those of the 90s.
Secondly, why does McVey identify himself as a post-graduate student in his Feb. 5 letter and later identify himself as a graduate student in the March 7 letter?
Should we expect McVey to call himself a climatology professor in an April 9 letter? How about university president? Make up your mind, pal!!
Finally, I just want it to be known to those in the greek system … or the sports network … or any other university organization that McVey chooses to slam in any future letters—don’t blame meteorology!
