NIU cross country earned an eighth place finish in their trip to Peoria, Illinois, for the Bradley Pink Classic.
The Huskies scored 239 points in a field of 15 schools. St. Louis University finished ahead of the Huskies in seventh place, scoring 188 points.
Newman University finished just behind NIU in the final standings in ninth place with a score of 246 points.
NIU’s top individual finish of the day belonged to graduate student Bailey Wilk, who finished in 42nd place in a field of 166 athletes. Wilk’s final time for the 6k race was 23:20.79.
Freshman Rachel Dietrich was the next Huskie in the individual standings, finishing in 73rd place with her 6k time at 24:11.10, which is a new personal best time for the 6k by 1:30.
Senior Emma Vorpagel finished in 80th place on the individual leaderboard, finishing her race with a time of 24:24.94.
Sophomore Morgan Gioia finished three seconds behind her teammate Vorpagel on the individual leaderboard, with a time of 24:27.87. Gioia’s final time was a new personal record, beating her previous best time of 24:55.4.
Graduate student Carly Leonard was the final NIU finisher at the invitational in 119th place with a time of 25:47.53. Leonard finished four seconds behind University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee freshman Rylan Oberg.
The Huskies’ next invitational will be on Nov. 2 at the MAC Championship in Muncie, Indiana. The MAC Championship will be hosted by Ball State University.
