Cars damaged in several NIU lots

Vandals broke windows and stole stereos from six cars parked in NIU lots during the weekend, University Police said Sunday.

“It’s hard to tell if it was sporadic or organized,” said UP Sgt. Kathy Guimond.

The driver’s side front window of a car parked in Lot B, located near Anderson Hall, was smashed Friday, she said. The damage totaled $200, Guimond said.

Two cars parked in lot W, located north west of married student housing, were vandalized, Guimond said.

One car was missing a $100 tire that was stolen sometime between March 7 and March 21, she said. The other car’s window was smashed and a radar detector and a stereo were stolen, Guimond said.

Vandals stole a $450 radio Thursday from a car parked in lot O, located north of married student housing. Also, the air was let out of all the tires of a car parked in lot X, located near Annie Glidden Road, she said.

“From time to time, people target certain cars at NIU for vandalism,” Guimond said.
