DeKALB – The historic Ellwood House Museum in DeKalb is celebrating the holiday season with events and a fully decorated mansion. This year, the Ellwood House, located at 420 Linden Place, is opening Ellcourt during the holiday season by having a fully decorated first floor.
The rooms in both homes are decorated by groups, local individuals, businesses, organizations and Ellwood House staff.
WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
The Ellwood House is kicking off the holiday season by offering tours of the decorated mansion and Ellcourt, the Tudor-style home on its property. Tours are available from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday for the mansion, and at 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday for Ellcourt.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
The Ellwood house will continue its annual Holiday Traditions Weekend and allow attendees to participate in self-guided tours around the mansion and Ellcourt, giving guests an opportunity to take their time and admire the decorations in both homes. This two-day event will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
MONDAY THROUGH DEC. 15
Decorated tours of the mansion and Ellcourt will resume availability Monday through Dec. 15. Tours of the mansion will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on these days, and at 2 p.m. for Ellcourt.
Tickets for both events can be purchased on their website, in-person or over the phone. Prices can range from free to $15 per ticket for Holiday Traditions Weekend and free to $12 for Holiday Tours. Ellwood House Museum members will receive free admission. Memberships can be purchased online or at the Ellwood House Visitor Center.
