Ribbon defense
February 14, 1991
Yes, I’m putting up a yellow ribbon in support of the allied troops in the Gulf area.
What that means for me is that I am thinking of them and that I empathize with them and the people from whom they are separated.
It also means I share in their fear and I align myself with their speedy disengagement from the danger.
I could also say that for the Iraqis and their allies. I pledge myself to peace and a fully-shared prosperity in the Middle East.
I also see that, although much good may come of the war, a huge wound already exists to them, us and the earth.
