Field hockey
February 12, 1991
Although talking about hockey in February usually conjures images of ice, cold and toothless athletes banging each other’s heads, the brand of hockey played during warmer months was the subject of some recent NIU honors.
Team awards for NIU’s 1990 field hockey team were recently announced by coach Laurie Bell. Jenny Van Delft was named Most Valuable Player. Wendy Hozempa captured Most Improved Player honors and Jenny McCreary was given the Best Defense honor. McCreary also earned the NIU field hockey Academic Excellence award.
The Huskies had a 6-12 campaign in 1990.
