NIU women’s golf freshman Alexa Ouellet earned Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week honors on Thursday after a top-three finish at the Bowling Green State University Women’s Intercollegiate on Wednesday.
Placing third in the field of 80 golfers, Ouellet posted 219 strokes across the three rounds – one stroke away from tying for first place. The third-place finish marks the best of Ouellet’s career.
Ouellet kicked off the tournament with a score of 73 in the first round, followed by a score of 75 in the second round.
She rounded out the event with a score of 71 in the third round – her best of the tournament.
Behind Ouellet, the Huskies finished the tournament tying for fifth place.

Ouellet and the Huskies return to action in an all-day event stretching from Feb. 25 to Feb. 26 at the Grand Canyon University Invitational. The invitational will be held at the GCU Golf Course in Phoenix, Arizona.
