Phi Kappa Theta is joining in the crusade to support the troops in Operation Desert Storm.
Phi Kappa Theta is a community service fraternity that started selling missing-in-action and prisoners-of-war bracelets to honor soldiers missing in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. Already, more than 130 bracelets were sold to the greek community.
Starting today, the fraternity plans to open its sales to all NIU students on campus. The fraternity hopes to have a table at DuSable Hall or the Holmes Student Center’s Pow Wow Room.
The bracelets, engraved with soldiers’ names, come from Stemarco Inc. The company provides the names of POWs and MIAs to anybody selling such bracelets. The profit from their sales goes to Hines Veteran Hospital, Hines, Ill.
The cost of bracelets that name soldiers and POWs from Vietnam is $5.00 for red aluminum and $6.00 for stainless steel.
The cost for bracelets that name soldiers or POWs from Operation Desert Storm is slightly higher, starting at $5.50 for red aluminum and $6.50 for stainless steel.
