Backup NIU quarterback Bart Geiser was arrested this weekend at Molly’s Eatery and Drinkery, 1022 W. Lincoln Hwy., during routine identification checks.

Geiser, 20, was listed at the No. 4 quarterback slot entering NIU’s 1990 season after red-shirting his freshman season.

The Springfield native did not register any pass attempts or rushes during the Huskies’ 1990 season.

NIU’s head football coach Charlie Sadler said any disciplinary action taken against Geiser would be determined after Sadler had a chance to determine the exact facts in the case.

Geiser, who could not be reached for comment, is scheduled to appear in court March 1.
