NIU hockey team looks for revenge

In a battle over first place, the high-scoring NIU Hockey team (6-2) will face-off against DePaul Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

A newspaper article, which named DePaul one of the nation’s best hockey clubs, has motivated NIU. Another incentive is revenge. The Blue Demons checked the Huskies 7-6 last November.

“We guarantee an exciting, fun game for the fans and we guarantee a win,” NIU player Jim Kopka said. “We would like to get as many people out to the game as possible.”

The two teams will collide at Rockford’s Riverview Icehouse. A spectator bus will leave the OCR building at 6:30. Transportation is free and game tickets cost $1.

The Huskies’ major strength is their extremely powerful offense. In their two previous contests, they have scored twelve goals. Guiding the offense is Nick Ranieri who has bounced back from a shoulder injury to score five goals and four assists in the last four games.
