Milk makes senate stale

Point?

The current Student Association is mirroring its predecessors by once again failing to make a point.

Last spring, the SA senate was more than perturbed with an $850 price tag for refreshments at Campus Activities Board art shows, because the Holmes Student Center apparently charged too much for food. The senate even went so far as to veto the money.

Suddenly, the senate has had a change of heart. They have discovered if CAB adds a helping hand, $250 can be chopped off the going price. So now the SA is overjoyed with the new $600 price. What a steal.

However, this little bargain might not be as workable with other campus organizations, according to Student Center Director Judd Baker.

Now, despite the SA battle with Barbara Henley, vice president for Student Affairs, who decided the senate’s decision was wrong and reallocated the $850 for refreshments, there must have been a point to the senate’s adamant stand.

But this is the one eluding point. If the senate was so upset about the student center charging too much for milk and cookies, that same senate should still be steadfast in its decision.

Instead, it has given in to an administrative handout which accomplished its goal of keeping students at bay.

But at least the senate is following tradition. It has mimicked what the senates under Huda Scheidelman and Paula Radke did the past two years, proving once again that the senate is a stagnant student body.
