Expectant mothers session

An open forum for expectant mothers will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at Dr. Goswani’s office, 2535 Bethany Rd., Sycamore. The session is open to all pregnant women and their spouses and will discuss the newborn baby, growth and development in the first few months. Call 758-5100 to register.

Race, ethnicity discussion

The next discussion group on race and ethnicity in urban society will be Feb. 12 at NIU’s Social Science Research Institute, Third and Locust streets in downtown DeKalb. Anyone interested in attending should contact coordinator Loomis Mayfield at 753-2301.

Fraternity offers scholarships

Co-ed Hispanic Fraternity Alpha Psi Lambda is offering two minority scholarships, one for leadership potential and one for academic achievement. Applications can be picked up at the Office of University Resources for Latinos at the Knetch House, 515 Garden Rd. The deadline is Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. for applications to be turned in to the Alpha Psi Lambda mailbox at the University Planning and Activities office in the Holmes Student Center.

NIU professor earns position

NIU physics professor Tom Rossing has been elected president of the American Association of Physics Teachers. Now on sabbatical, Rossing has held several other offices in the association.

Slide show

William Adelman will present a slide show and lecture on “Chicago Heroes and Heroines” to the Friends of the NIU Libraries at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 21. Scheduled at the Country Inn, 2496 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, a dessert and beverage bar will be available at $5 for members and $6 for guests.
