NIU’s spring Food Truck Wednesdays kick off this week. Students can try many food trucks – selling lemonade, tacos and more – throughout the month.
Which food truck at Food Truck Wednesdays is the best?
BURRITOVILLE
Burritoville offers Mexican food such as tacos and burritos. Burritoville’s portions are filling and their prices are decent. For example, a burrito is $13. Burritoville also has a restaurant aside from their food truck located at 1026 W. Hillcrest Drive.
WILD FRIES
Wild Fries is known for their loaded fries, ranging from Greek fries to pulled pork fries. Their prices tend to range from $10 to $15 depending on which toppings you choose. Wild Fries is scheduled to appear at Food Truck Wednesdays on April 16 and 30.
KA-BAO!
Ka-Bao! is based out of Rockford and is best known for their bao buns. Some of their menu items include a Spam-bao and a Chicky-bao. The Spam-bao includes fried spam, garlic sesame chips, scallions, chili mayo and fries. The chicky-bao includes garlic caramel fried chicken, house pickles, ranch, garlic sesame and fries. Ka-Bao will be at Food Truck Wednesdays on April 9 and 30.
THE PRESS BOX
The Press Box is a food truck based out of Hinckley, Illinois, and offers something for everyone. Ranging from burgers to paninis, The Press Box is sure to fulfill students’ appetites. The Press Box will be available at Food Truck Wednesdays on April 16.
