LEGACIES ON DISPLAY: THE FORBIDDEN AND VENERATED ARTS OF BURMA
Date and Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday, noon to 6 p.m. every Thursday and Friday, noon to 3 p.m. every Saturday
Location: NIU Art Museum, Altgeld Hall
This new exhibit reveals the long, complex history of several historical relics between the 19th and the 21st centuries. The displays include Burmese ivory, silver, textiles, paintings and more. The exhibit will remain open until May 9, 2026 with no admission fee required.

Location: Pick Museum of Anthropology, Cole Hall
The Pick Museum of Anthropology presents their newest exhibit showcasing how communities come together and recuperate after war and conflicts. Drawing from work by the organization “The Aftermath Project,” this exhibit showcases the aftermath of strife and what it takes to rebuild homes and societies.

Location: Asian American Resource Center
The members of the Asian American Resource Center invite all boba enjoyers and new students to engage with and expand their friend circles. This event is free for all to attend.

Location: Latino Center, Outside, 515 Garden Road
The Latino Resource Center is welcoming all new students with a night of live music and dancing. New and returning students can meet other members of the community, learn about student organizations and discover the center’s resources.
SIXTY YEARS OF PRINTMAKING AT NIU: A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE
Date and Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday, noon to 6 p.m. every Thursday and Friday and noon to 3 p.m. every Saturday.
Location: NIU Art Museum
This exhibit showcases the art of faculty, alumni and various other artists centered around printmaking media such as silkscreen, monoprint and more. This exhibit will remain open until May 2026 with no admission required.
CAMPUS MEETS COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY
Date and Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday
Location: MLK Commons
This Campus Meets Community Block Party welcomes new and returning students with 75 local businesses and organizations, fun activities, free samples, music, giveaways and more. No admission fee is required to attend.
FREE NIU ADVENTURES WEDNESDAY WEEKLY BIKE RIDES
Date and Time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Wednesday
Location: Recreation Center, Adventure Center
NIU Adventures invites the community for free weekly bike rides with the staff. Attendees can take rides around town, through local bike trails or suggest a destination through email.
This event is free for all to attend and all skill levels are welcome. If students do not have a bike, the Adventure Center will loan them a rental Trek mountain bike while supplies last. This event will continue until Sept. 24.
