Gorbachev takes step back

New Soviet Union policies will certainly hinder the chance of a civil war.

Although the avoidance of war sounds good on the surface, it might be at the expense of nearly every goal of President Mikhail Gorbachev.

Gorbachev seems to be doing an about face that could bring about the emergence of the Communist Party or even a complete dictatorship.

The latest event, which could be the clincher, is Gorbachev’s approval of an action to give the KGB and Soviet police almost unlimited powers to carry out unimpeded searches of any business and seize all its valuables including records, cash and stock. These militaristic powers will be held over both foreign and domestic businesses.

Obviously, this action comes as quite a blow to all the independent businesses in the Soviet Union.

Gorbachev’s foregone liberal policies are now being replaced as a last hope to keep the union intact.

Whatever the reason, Gorbachev’s new rules should make the people want to join together to ask for the Nobel Peace Prize back since this is a step closer to Stalin’s terrorist tactics.

Gorbachev has had more support from the United Nations over the past few years than he has had from his own people. But with the recent developments, maybe it’s time that support comes to a halt.
