NIU women’s golf rounded out its fall season with a fifth place finish at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational on Monday, highlighted by two top-20 individual finishes.
The Huskies finished 74-over par, 938, and finished ahead of Ohio University in the standings by 14 strokes. NIU finished behind Middle Tennessee State University in fourth place, with a score of 56 over par, 920.
The University of Miami claimed victory at the tournament, finishing in first place for the event as a team and 35-over par, 899.
Sophomore Dakota Tallent was the highest placing individual athlete for the Huskies, tying for sixth place with a score of 11-over par, 227. A score of two-over par in the final round allowed Tallent to rise four spots in the final rankings.
NIU sophomore Mia Raines was the second Huskie to finish in the top-20. Raines finished tied for 20th place with Middle Tennessee junior Nicole Johnson.
Raines’ score for the invitational was 18-over par, 234, with her best round being a five over par in round one.
Freshman Emile Chile finished in 23rd place with a score of 21-over par, 237. Chile’s best round of the weekend came in Round 2, scoring a five over par.
Graduate student Caroline Kent finished in 30th place after dropping four spots in the final round. Kent’s final round score of 12-over par inflated her final score to 27-over par, 243.
Sophomore Alexa Oullett finished in 38th place with a score of 40 over par, 256.
Oullett began the invitational with a first round score of six-over par. After carding scores of 15-over par and 19-over par in the final two rounds, Oullett fell to 40th place in the standings.
NIU junior Eva Nijenhuis competed at the invitational as an independent athlete, leaving in 44th place with a score of 70-over par, 286.
Nijenhuis finished as the lowest individual in the standings, finishing five strokes behind Miami’s junior Aada Rissanen, who was also competing as an independent.
The Huskies next invitational will take place from Jan. 25 through Jan. 27 at the 2026 UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
