Dance troupe performs

The Blackhawk Dance Troupe will perform on Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center’s Carl Sandburg Auditorium. The performance is part of NIU’s theme of Unity in Diversity.

The troupe is comprised of 31 Native American students ages 12 to 16. The dancers will be wearing traditional dress and will perform a variety of intertribal dances.

The troupe is sponsored by Stevenson North and the Residence Hall Association and admission is free.

Author holds meeting

Carrol Cassell, a nationally known sexuality educator and mother of six, will hold a meeting Nov. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. on how to discuss tough topics with teenagers at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, 315 N. Sixth St.

Cassell is the author of “Straight from the Heart: How to Talk to Your Teenager about Love and Sex.” She is the former president of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. She also is the winner of the Margaret Sanger Award from the Institute of Family Research and Education.
