Ballot for profit
November 9, 1990
For months I watched the MTV commercials to ‘Rock the Vote.’
Supposedly, there was to be a vote against censorship on the ballot. That was going to be the big deal, or so I thought.
But after I punched in my last vote, I noticed there was no vote on censorship! I thought maybe I missed it, but I didn’t.
When I went back and asked the woman (who took my ballot) where the censorship vote was, she said, “I don’t know. But a lot of people have been asking about it.”
Well, what the hell happened? This whole big deal made with this issue going to be voted upon, and there was nothing! I know I am not the only one wondering about this.
My question was simple; what happened? Did MTV run a scam to make some money on anti-censorship shirts? Or did someone in the government just decide to blow this off?
