Tape of seminar featured

Students interested in the cold war have a chance to see a video tape of a U.S. Institute of Peace seminar which featured American and Soviet diplomats.
The seminar, held last August in Washington D.C., was a landmark in U.S.-Soviet relations, said Martin David Dubin, of the political science department.
Dubin said this is the first time U.S. and Soviet diplomatic historians have discussed the origin of the cold war. It also marks the first time U.S. and Soviet diplomatic historians have agreed and come to logical conclusions.
The seminar was a sign of new relations with the Soviets and an end to the Cold War, Dubin said.
The video tape, which NIU got from C-SPAN, will be shown tonight at 7 p.m. in DuSable room 120A. The showing is open to all interested students and colleagues with a special welcome extended to specialists in International Relations and Soviet Studies.
Following the two-hour tape will be a roundtable discussion and question-and-answer period.
