Barbra Henley’s committment to her job should be seriously questioned. She is the vice-president of Student Affairs and as such should be accessible to students.

On Nov. 7, I tried to make an appointment to see her but was told she would have to OK my scheduling an appointment with her.

On Nov. 9, I checked to see if I could see her. This time I was told she knew I wanted to see her but didn’t let anyone know if I could see her.

She has been the hardest to speak to of any of the administrators I’ve seen. I’ve seen George Shur (University Legal Council) and Dick Ubl (NIU Foundation) with relative ease.

Even Ann Groves, the NIU president’s secretary, has taken time out to speak with me. In most cases, I’ve been surprised at how easily accessible the administrators have been.

Henley should follow the example of her peers and make herself available to more than just the established student leaders.

Although I’m not president of Campus Activities Board or the president of the Student Association, or the president of any other university organization, I am a student leader and as such deserve to be heard.
