CPA review offered

NIU’s comprehensive CPA course will begin starting Saturdays Dec. 1 through May 4 and specified Wednesdays from Jan. 16 to April 24 at the Inland Meeting Center, 400 E. Ogden Ave., Westmont.

A free introduction is scheduled Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the meeting center. The course is designed for those who have never taken the CPA exam or who want to take the exam again and have not had NIU’s review.

Artwork to be shown

Photography, jewelry and ceramics will be among many items displayed by the creative art center at the recreation center from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Included will be artwork by workshop participants and demonstrations of art techniques. Some work might be for sale and refreshments will be served.

AIDS quilt on display

To mark AIDS Awareness Week, four quilt squares of the AIDS quilt will be on display in the Holmes Student Center’s Heritage and Regency rooms from Dec. 3 to 6.

The entire quilt, larger than a football field, was displayed recently at the Washington Monument in Washington D.C. Each quilt square represents an individual who has died from AIDS.

ARC course offered

Authorized American Red Cross water safety and lifeguard instructors will lose their certifications Dec. 31 if they have not completed training in ARC methods.

Instructors can take a course offered by NIU to fulfill these requirements. The course, held from Dec. 7 to 9, is co-sponsored by NIU’s physical education department, the DeKalb County American Red Cross and the Red Cross’s Mid-America chapter.

Participants will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 in Anderson Hall Room 245. The cost is limited to required new materials.
