OCR to display students’ work
November 27, 1990
An art show featuring the artwork of Genesis House students will take place from 12 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Office of Campus Recreation lobby.
Work by Genesis House’s students mainly consists of pinatas, hand-made jewelry and wheel-thrown ceramics. Face masks created by the students will be on display, and some glazed face masks will be for sale.
Genesis House is a local home for mentally disabled adults.
Also for show will be artwork created by other college students who have participated in art workshops at the OCR.
Some art will be for sale; some will be only for display, said Sandy Reading, OCR art therapist. “Basically, it’s a display, but people were given the option if they wanted to sell their work or not. Not everything is for sale,” she said.
Some artists also have been invited to demonstrate their craft, such as throwing pottery or metalworking (jewelry making).
