DeKALB – Around 11 a.m. on Thursday, a pedestrian crossing Lucinda Avenue near Carroll Avenue was struck by a vehicle.
The NIU Police Department and DeKalb Fire Department were at the scene and provided care to the person who was struck.
The pedestrian that was hit laid on the ground for a moment before being able to sit up. Jason Leverton, deputy police chief for the DeKalb Police Department, said the person who was hit is facing non-life threatening injuries and in stable condition.
Lucinda Avenue remained closed for about 15 minutes before the person who was struck was transported to the nearest hospital.
There are currently no charges pending and no arrests have been made.
