Tasteless comic
November 5, 1990
What exactly is the point of Mark Massart’s “Free Fall” comic strip of Oct. 29?
Despite Massart’s apparent lack of artistic talent, it would seem he depicts a pregnant nun who says “No, really, it’s just my nephew.”
Is this Massart’s mean-spirited attempt at humor, or just a pathetic way of drawing attention to his malodorous excuse for a comic strip?
It is a good thing that the U.S. Constitution allows Massart the freedom to express his loathsome views. How else would one get to see his insulting and malicious bigotry?
What can readers of The Northern Star expect next from Massart, a comic strip in which African-Americans are slurred with racial epithets? Maybe Massart can use his comedic genius in a hilarius version of anti-Semitism.
At least Massart should have no trouble finding a market for his drawings outside of school. He could do the illustrations for some Ku Klux Klan pamphlets. Massart’s comic strip of Oct. 29 would make a fine resume.
