Costs too much

Has anyone been to an NIU theatre production lately? Little Shop of Horrors is playing at the O’Conner Theatre in the Stevens Building.
It seemed like a nice little play to see. So my roommate and I prepared to go get tickets. The lines were surprisingly short and when we got up to the ticket window we understood why. Plays are five bucks – that’s very reasonable.
In parenthesis it has a different price for musicals – a whopping ten bucks for a musical at NIU. Don’t start responding to my letter yet theatre majors, but don’t you think it is a bit steep?
“Shear Madness,” a comedy play at Chicago’s Blackstone Hotel on Michigan Avenue is just $15. Twenty dollars for transportation and the play, sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, in all.
I’ve been to many NIU theatre productions in the past and I think the productions are worthwhile but 10 bucks for a musical?
One more thing, if you’ll bear with my ignorance, but why the $5 difference between a play and a musical?
