In its final Mid-American Conference Championship meet before moving to the Mountain West, NIU gymnastics met with six conference rivals on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies claimed four podium spots, including two first-place finishes.
A few Huskies earned new season high scores as NIU came in seventh place. Ending their season with an overall score of 193.675, the Huskies claimed their second-highest team score of 2026.
“We have more in us as a team, but anytime we can walk away from the championship meet with four top three finishes, it’s a good day,” head coach Dawnita “Nita” Teague said via NIU Athletics. “We are super proud of all of our athletes, but having Dawsyn win vault and Jocelyn win beam was outstanding.”
For the second time in two meets and her NIU career, senior Jocelyn Harbeck competed all-around. She placed third, with a career-best 39.075 overall score. Harbeck tied for first place on the balance beam to set a new career-best, matching CMU senior Luciana Alvarado-Reid with a 9.875 score.
“Jocelyn has only competed all-around for the last two meets of her career,” Teague said via NIU Athletics. “(This) is a testament to her hard work and determination to finish third today.”
Harbeck also tied her season-high 9.800 score on vault, set a new career-best on uneven bars (9.650) and scored 9.750 on floor.
Junior Dawsyn Sallee tied for first place on vault with five other gymnasts, scoring her season-high 9.850 for the second time this season. She remained essential to have in the vault lineup throughout the season, scoring at least 9.700 in every meet for NIU.
Sallee and Harbeck were also both named to the MAC Gymnastics All-Tournament Team.
Junior Mikayla Brown also placed on the beam podium, scoring 9.850 to tie for third place with three other competitors and tie her season-high. She also scored 9.850 on floor to record a new season-high.
