Send Bagby back to county
October 22, 1990
Voters should re-elect Republican Tim Bagby to the DeKalb County Board’s 7th District.
Bagby gets the nod over Democratic challenger Thomas Elkins.
Although both are qualifed for the position, there is no clear cut reason why Bagby should be ousted.
Bagby, an NIU graduate student, has proven his dedication to the county. He will remember what’s best for NIU, but will not make decisions solely based on the university. Bagby truly has the county’s best interests in mind.
His work toward county expansion and improvement is delicately balanced by his cautious attitude, making sure the area will grow in a productive and organized manner.
Bagby’s experience is an asset. He is more than familiar with the issues and problems facing the county. His dedication toward making county politics more respectable and honest is commendable.
Bagby edges out Elkins because of focus. Elkins is in touch with county issues, but is overly concerned with the DeKalb County Nursing Home — although there could be worse issues to be intrigued about.
Bagby and Elkins both would immerse themselves in each issue and weigh all sides carefully before making a decision. However, Bagby’s focus, experience and record prove he deserves another term.
