Completing the comeback that sent NIU men’s tennis to the Mid-American Conference championship match on Saturday, sophomore Pratyaksh LNU has been named the Northern Star’s Huskie of the Week.
Playing at No. 6 singles against Western Michigan University, LNU took down Broncos sophomore Jack Davison in a three-set battle to seal the win for the Huskies.
After falling 6-3 in the first set, LNU flipped the momentum to take 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 sets for the win.
The Huskies fell to the University at Buffalo in the championship match on Sunday.
This is the second Huskie of the Week honor for men’s tennis, after senior Iker Gaztambide Arrastia earned the honor on Jan. 26.
The next Huskie of the Week will be announced on April 27.
The Northern Star sports section’s Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were selected based on their performance in competitions taking place from April 14 to April 20.
