October 1, 1990
A DeKalb United Parcel Service employee stole packages valued at $1,697 over a four-month period, DeKalb Police said Monday.
Sylvia D. Akers, 28, 813 Taylor St., Apt. 1107, stole a televison, video cassette recorder and other items to be delivered by UPS, DeKalb Police Lt. Dick Moudy said. Akers worked loading trucks for the company, he said.
Akers allegedly put a label addressed to her on packages being sent by UPS, Moudy said. When UPS employees traced the lost packages, they found that the items were mailed to Akers’ address, police said.
UPS officials refused comment. Akers, who is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 25, also refused comment.
